Aburizal Bakrie now leading as Presidential Candidate (22%) in latest APAPC Polling conducted in April 2012

APAPC (Asia Pacific Association of Political Consultants) is an international organization whose main purpose is to promote democracy. It has commissioned Roy Morgan Research to provide a neutral monthly political monitor to the media and the people of Indonesia.

The latest polling conducted in April 2012 shows an increase for support for Aburizal Bakrie as the most popular candidate at 22% (up 4 points from March 2012), overtaking Prabowo Subiyanto who is flat at 20%.

However when you take into consideration a second or more choices, then Prabowo still attracts a larger number jumping to 34% and is at no.1, while Aburizal only climbs to 30% at no.2.

With regard to party politics for the DPR, Partai Demokrat still leads but continues to slip, now at 19%. PDIP has regained and is now a close second at 17% (jumping 4 points from March), overtaking Golkar, now at third position at 16% (no change).

Gerindra, although still holding on to 4th position at 6% (slight slip from March) is now being matched by PKB who increased 1 point in April. Following very closely behind these 2 parties are PKS and PAN both at 5%, with PKS flat while PAN slipping. Newcomer NasDem continues to grow, now at 2%.

Commissioned by APAPC, Roy Morgan has conducted this survey with a robust sample of over 2000 respkindents each month. Respondents are interviewed in 17 provinces, home to 87% of the population, 83% of the Dapils and 464 out of 560 seats at the parliament.
